Cyber-Insurance Security and Risk

Join us for an exciting and informative workshop and luncheon focusing on Technology/Security practitioners. Attorney Christina Terplan from Clyde & Co. and Mary Guzman McGriff of Seibels & Williams - Financial Services Division will conduct both the workshop and luncheon presentations.In the workshop you will learn:
- what a good Breach Response Plan looks like and how to be sure it will work.
- What vendors you will need to be thinking about contracting before an firm event.
- What you should do when you have a breach event and who and when the "authorities" need to be invovled.
- What kind of due diligence should you do on a thrid party service provider.
- ways you can protect your company from a breach that is the fault of the provider.
The Luncheon sesssion will cover:
- Overview of risk landscape.
- Overview of various state and federal (current and potential) breach statutes and current regulations.
- How your contracts with thrid party service providers should look like.
- What insurance is available to transfer risks and what the qualifications are.
Speaker bios:
Christina Terplan practices in the areas of technology, intellectual property, and privacy law, representing insurers with all issues ranging from coverage evaluations and disputes to litigation management. She represents insurers in claims brought against technology and media companies, as well as with respect to data security and privacy breaches, including the evaluation of data breaches and cyber attacks, the issuance of breach notification letters, responding to regulatory investigations, and handling of consumer lawsuits.
Christina has been active in working with insurers in the development of new insurance programs and manuscripted coverages relating to intellectual property, cyber security, and data breaches.
Christina is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is a 2003 graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, J.D. where she was a founding member of the Hastings Race & Poverty Law Journal, and a graduate, with honors, of the University of California, Davis, B.S., 2000.
Christina serves on the board of directors of the General Assistance Advocacy Project.
Mary Guzman is a Senior Vice President and Errors & Omissions Liability practice leader concentrating on the design, placement and oversight of customized executive risk solutions for the Fortune 1000 and other complex accounts. Mary has a background in both property/casualty and executive risks issues and has concentrated the past several years in errors and omissions/professional liability, cyber/privacy and media risks coverage areas. Her current responsibilities include the strategic leadership role for both clients and the insurance markets relative to product and service development, education and consulting, and the development of market capacity in difficult to insure industries such as energy and financial institutions. Mary and her colleagues have developed a leading edge proprietary solution in the E&O and Information Security arena unlike anything else available in the market today. Mary is a frequent speaker and has written publications related to information technology and security risk. She also consults with clients on risk management and contracting strategies for vendor/business partner relationships and has served as a liaison to the government on protection of the US Critical Infrastructure through relationships with NIST, NIAP, and CIAO.
