Who will succeed in the competitive banking and credit union landscape in Hawaii and how? This month's Event will discuss the competitive landscape in Hawaii between so many banks and credit unions and views on consolidation, how best to survive, differentiating yourself from competitors, using technology in the future for banking.Panelists:
Joel Kumabe
Since joining Hawaii State Federal Credit Union in 2006 as the Chief Information Officer, Joel Kumabe has helped stabilize and expand the technology infrastructure and partnered with departments to enable significant changes to service providers and systems.He is responsible for providing the leadership necessary to plan and deliver technology, services and application systems for one of the largest credit unions in Hawaii.
Mr. Kumabe has over 29 years of experience in the technology industry of which 12 years are in banking. In addition to Hawaii State FCU, he has previous banking experience at Bank of Hawaii and Honolulu Federal Savings & Loan. Prior to joining Hawaii State FCU, Mr. Kumabe served as Program Manager at HMSA, Enterprise Architect at Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate, Vice President at Bank of Hawaii and Consulting Manager at Ernst & Young.
He has earned a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and an MBA from the University of Hawaii.
Dean Curtin
Office of Finance Subject Matter Expert within the Business Analytics Group at IBM. Dean is a California CPA. Prior to joining IBM, Dean worked for 12 years in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Consulting Practice where he led a regional Data Management Advisory group, and later a Strategic Finance Consulting Group. As a strategy consultant, he helped several Fortune 1000 Clients design and implement enterprise-wide finance transformation strategies, including new technology deployments. Dean was also a Business Unit Controller for Media and Entertainment Company, and a CIO for a Real Estate Investment Management Firm.
Nikolaus Daubert
Twelve year veteran of web development and project management; leveraging technologies into greater organizational efficiency, and increased customer satisfaction. Nikolaus currently manages Hawaii National Bank's self-service channels, including Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and ATMs, and is at the forefront of the institution's initiative to empower its clients with intuitive solutions and services. A Hawaii native, he completed both his Executive MBA and Bachelor of Science at UH Manoa.
