PM 301 Workshop - PM for every working professional (2010)

As organizations utilize project management methodologies to implement change, these efforts may require the coordinated effort of multiple related projects to deliver an overall result. This group of related projects is called a program, and program management defines distinct processes and skills to facilitate overall success. A Portfolio is a collection or projects and programs that are grouped together to facilitate meeting strategic objectives.Project Management is a core competency for organizational change, and a critical personal skill for leaders and managers. AITP is offering a workshop in program and portfolio management for its members that will be conducted by Glenn Hamamura, PMP, the principal consultant ofSystems Excellence LLC.
Systems Excellence LLC is a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Educational Provider (REP), and this workshop is registered with PMI. The project management training is based on the PMI PMBOK (Body of Knowledge), which provides a consistent framework and common vocabulary for all project based work. It will provide an industry standard knowledge base for the IT managers, which is used by Project Management Professionals (PMP) around the world.
Project Management 301 is an 8 hour workshop that will build on PM101 and PM201, and is consistent with the Project Management Institute’s The Standard for Program Management, Second Edition (2008) andThe Standard for Portfolio Management, Second Edition (2008). The workshop will cover basic elements of program and portfolio management, and will include team based exercises to facilitate learning. It is recommended that participants have taken at least the PM101 course previously, or have equivalent knowledge.
At the end of the workshop, the participant will have an understanding of the elements of program and portfolio management. The participant will be credited with 8 PDU’s (Professional Development Units)which can be used as part of the requirement for project management certification.
